After a lifetime of co-creating individual, family and community programs to support health and wellbeing across southwestern Ontario, I am now striving to give vibrant expression to the life force that sustains our health and wellbeing through painting.
Through Covid times, many relearned that the things that support and nurture our health and wellbeing are in abundant supply. As daily life slowed, this abundance of life sustaining connections emerged: time spent in the pulse of nature, the deep fibers of connection with others, thoughts as a source of wellbeing and creative power. This abundance of natural sustenance stood in stark contrast to the reality of covid.
My goal is to express these life sustaining moments that give meaning, awe and joy to our lives: themes include the nature, the becoming of people through connection with nature and others. Images include: the richness of life as expressed by a child’s wonder of nature, the succulence of a tomato at its ripest, the fullness of a moment of connection between friends, the power of wind blowing through a field of wheat on a hot summer day, a moment of bliss in realization and transcendence.
My paintings reflect my choice to express moments of joy, love, courage, serenity, bliss, trust, optimism, illumination, empowerment, intention, transcendence, affirmation through various mediums . Van Gogh, Kahlo, Freud, Saville, Chapin continue to inform and infuse my work.
